The Bite in Tumalo menu

Tumalo is a small little town in Central Oregon, nestled in between Bend and Sisters, on Highway 20.  The main strip is about 3 blocks long with a speed limit of only 25 MPH (and they take this seriously).  One one side of the highway you will find a couple of places to dine, but on the other side of the highway is a family friendly food truck “park”. The Bite in Tumalo is always hopping, but is a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

Whether you are in the mood for a good burger, tasty tacos or unique grilled cheese sandwiches, you won’t be disappointed! There are five delicious food trucks to choose from at The Bite.

The Rogue Chef features some of the best burgers I have ever tasted (no, really). I always get the bacon cheeseburger. This is no ordinary bacon cheeseburger, however. The bun is coated with an amazing peppercorn sauce, but it is not too “peppery”. When you combine the sauce with the sweet bacon, your tastebuds will do a little dance. The hamburger patty is made with quality beef that is full of flavor. Did I mention that the burgers are served with garlic fries? Trust me – your tastebuds will thank you if you order this burger. In addition to burgers, The Rogue Chef has other sandwiches, including the BLT, Cheesesteak, Reuben and a pork sandwich. I really do need to try some of their other offerings too!

Rico’s Tacos has an impressive menu with Mexican classics such as burritos, tostadas, nachos, tacos and more. I haven’t eaten at this food truck, but it looks really good!

Heidi’s Grilled Cheesery is quite unique. I’m sure you’ve had grilled cheese sandwiches before, but I doubt you’ve had ones as creative as these. I have had one of their sandwiches before (though the name escapes me, and I don’t see it online), and it was really good! It had mac & cheese on it. Clever! Before opening Heidi’s Grilled Cheesery, the owners owned and operated a fishing lodge in Willow, Alaska for 16 years.

Ronin Sushi uses wild caught, sustainable fish. They take pride in using only the freshest products to keep with the traditions and spirit of the Japanese culture. I have never eaten at this food truck, but I really want to try it.

Shaka Shaved Ice is the perfect truck to visit after a hearty meal, or just as a tasty way to cool down on a hot summer day. Last summer after a day visiting Tumalo Falls, my friends and I stopped by the bite and I indulged in one of their HUGE shaved ice cups. Don’t worry, there are other sizes, but again, I was hot and thirsty! There are several flavors to choose from, including Sandy Beach, Hawaiian Rainbow, Blue Wave, and Tropical Sunset. Of course you can mix and match flavors to suit your fancy too.

Kids and dogs are welcome at The Bite! There is a big lawn area with fire pits and plenty of games for the kiddos. There is always music playing and laughter in the air.

The Bite has you covered – literally. There is a covered area with a huge array of beers on tap, ciders, wines, etc. It really is quite impressive.
