The breathtaking skies of Central Oregon

Central Oregon is beautiful, there is no doubt about that. Honestly though, when we moved here, I had no idea just how much beauty this area has. We do live in the high desert, after all, what could be so breathtaking? There are lakes, parks, mountains, buttes, and the Deschutes River runs through Central Oregon, but there is so much more to enjoy. Sometimes when sitting and relaxing, and doing nothing in particular, beauty strikes when you least expect it. I am talking about the breathtaking skies of Central Oregon, some of the prettiest skies I’ve ever seen.

From the day we moved in, and over the past few years, I have enjoyed some of the prettiest skies I have ever seen. The sunsets of Central Oregon are simply breathtaking. I cannot keep all of this beauty to myself.

There you have it – the breathtaking skies of Central Oregon taken from my very own back porch. We feel blessed to be able to enjoy the colorful show in the sky each night here in Central Oregon. The skyline changes so drastically and so quickly, and there is nothing more calming than sitting out back as the skies turn from orange to purple to grey to blue, while snapping photos of just about every movement. As we sat out on the porch last night, my husband and I were in awe again and again in the course of 15 minutes. We were having a thunder and lightning storm, so that could have something to do with the exceptionally colorful skies last night.

Here is a fun idea to see more striking skies – a moonlit canoe tour from Wanderlust Tours. We haven’t done this yet, but it sounds amazing!
