There is nothing like a good, hearty breakfast to start the day. Breakfast joints can be hit or miss, but Jake’s Diner in Bend, Oregon is most definitely is a hit! If you are really hungry, then Jake’s is where you want to go, as they serve BIG food! In fact, their motto is, “Home of the largest portions in Central Oregon”. They are not kidding!
What I love about Jake’s, besides the friendly waitstaff, is their extensive menu. They have the regular breakfast fare of course, but you will be impressed (as was I) at the choices they offer.
You’ve never seen breakfast like this!
In the photo below, my friends, you will see a “benedict”. This is not your ordinary eggs benedict, but this is Cordon Bleu benedict! This is a huge breakfast {as are all of them at Jake’s}, and I had to take half home. There were two large breaded chicken breasts on the bottom, and on top of that was very tasty ham, and two poached eggs. The whole thing was smothered in a delicious hollandaise sauce. All I can say is…Oh my.
Jake’s actually has several other eggs benedict varieties too, including the Irish Benedict which has corned beef, sauerkraut, and poached eggs, the Bacon Benedict which is bacon, avocado, tomato and poached eggs. But that’s not all! They also made a Bacon Cheeseburger Benedict, which is a hamburger with bacon and cheese, topped with poached eggs and of course, hollandaise sauce. Last but not least, the Crab Cake Benedict. Two delectable crab cakes topped with spinach and poached eggs.
My husband chose an omelet with hash browns – smothered in gravy. He said it was really good.

My brother-in-law chose something from the lunch menu – a massive sandwich with chicken, cheese and huge onion rings slathered with BBQ sauce. He had to take half of his meal home as well.
You may be too full to try one of the Jake’s Diner cinnamon rolls, but really, you just have to taste these, even if you have to order one to go. The cinnamon rolls are available in two sizes – small and large. When I was there, they were out of the large size, so I ordered a small cinnamon roll. This thing was hardly small!
The next time I went to Jake’s Diner they did have the large cinnamon rolls and let me tell you, they are MASSIVE!
I love when restaurants mix things up a bit, and that is exactly what Jake’s Diner does. I notice this especially with their breakfast selections. But if you are ready for lunch and you might enjoy the Reuben, the French Dip, or the Philly. If you are the adventurous type, maybe the Buffalo Chicken sandwich will suit your fancy.
Let’s talk burgers!
If you love a good burger, you will be delighted to see some of the burgers on Jake’s menu. Although I haven’t tried a burger there yet, I will be soon. The Jayden Burger sounds very interesting with hash browns, bacon, cheddar cheese and fried eggs on top of a huge patty. Oh and it’s smothered in hollandaise sauce {do you see a theme here? I adore hollandaise sauce!}. If you like things spicy, then perhaps the Jalapeno burger is for you. Or if you are feeling especially adventurous, you can always opt for the The Big Bad Jake {dubbed the Biggest, Baddest, beefiest burger in town!}. It is a 1 pound burger with your choice of 4 oz. of ham, or bacon, or chili, swiss and provolone cheese. Oh my hips. The Rodeo burger sounds awesome too, as there are huge onion rings on it!
We left Jake’s with very full bellies. There may even have been some groaning. And that’s after packing up half of our meals to take home!
Jake’s Diner is located at 2210 NE Highway 20 in Bend, Oregon. It is tucked behind a liquor store and other businesses and can be a bit difficult to see from the highway.
